While SpaceX's terminal design is unclear, O3b uses a pair of dishes and the high efficiency terminals (around 4-5bps/Hz) are 3-7 meters in diameter, costing hundreds of thousands of dollars. In contrast, OneWeb has suggested its small terminals are expected to cost a few hundred dollars.

Note that the lack of cross links on OneWeb (like Globalstar) will require workarounds for full oceanic coverage outside the range of a gateway - for example Intelsat has suggested that terminals for dual GEO/LEO operation are a possibility.

This is certainly different than what I thought, a broadband connection for everyone. You say the land terminal antenna would have to be large, could you put a number on that? My primary desire is to have Internet capability on a boat anywhere at a low budget. From your description this will not be possible (the low cost part) with SpaceXs plans. Sounds like OneWeb would be more geared to my application, is that right? Any projected cost for end user of OneWeb?
